I thought it would never get here, but I actually go to the doctor tomorrow afternoon. I took the whole day off of school, but then I found out that I have a brand new substitute, so I'm a little nervous. However, I also made a dentist appointment for the morning and I'm going to try to take my cat to get her claws clipped, so I think I'll have a full day! At least it will keep my mind off of the appointment and all of my unfounded worries and fears of something being wrong.
My grandmother is great. We asked her what she wanted her first great grandchild to call her and she said, "Oh, is there one in the cooker?" Since then, she's been coming up with all sorts of crazy baby names and giving advice (but nice, friendly advice, not annoying judgemental advice). She's great. And I think she's settled on being called "G.G." for great-grandma. My brother and I called my great grandmother (on the other side of the family) G.G. and everyone thought it was cute.
I'm doing well. Some days are better than others. I am tired all of the time and my GI tract is completely wonky, but I figure that's all par for the course and just a reminder that I really am pregnant. I'm starting to fill out a bit in the middle parts, which is a little crazy. So things are moving along. My husband bought some daddy books yesterday. It's slowly becoming more and more real for both of us!

Happy Birthday Grandma!
So far so good. I'm much less nervous these days. I've definitely been hit with a few waves of nausea. Wednesday, I took out meat to thaw for dinner, but by the time my husband got home, I was curled up on the couch, trying not to throw up. He was very sweet and made dinner. After I ate, I felt better. Since then, I've been trying to eat something when I get home from school, and it hasn't gotten that bad again. We'll see what happens this week!
Lots of crazy stuff happening at school. A student who was expelled, may come back and be placed in my class. Apparently, the parents are threatening legal action. Who cares about the parents that this kid has and will hurt? It's a bad situation and it may cause me to leave my job. We'll see how it plays out in the next couple of weeks.
I'm heading up to my mom's house this afternoon to celebrate my grandmother's 89th birthday. We're going to tell her about the bean sprout. She's living with my mom for a couple of months and we decided that it wasn't fair to make her keep such a secret when she's bubbling over with excitement. I adore my grandmother, but she love to talk, so she may spill the news to my aunts, but we'll just have to risk it. We're going to ask her what she'd like her first great-grandchild to call her. I'm not sure how she'll react, but it will be fun!

I'm a Bad Puppy Mommy
Yesterday, Flash, our mischievous Basset Hound decided to get into his latched food bin with his medication in it. The food bin was almost empty, but not his prescription bottle. Why don't they put those in childproof containers like people prescriptions? They're just as dangerous! Anyway, my mom was coming over to do laundry (she doesn't yet have a washer and dryer in her new place) and found the mess. I had to rush home from school and induce vomiting at my vet's directions. It was scary stuff. He was definitely a little "off" for most of the day, but the vet says that he's out of danger now. Perhaps he's trying to show us which parts of our house need child proofing...
Otherwise, it's been a good week and there's not much new to report. I'm definitely really tired all the time and have felt pretty yucky in the evenings. I imagine it will only get worse, but every new symptom actually encourages me. It's good to have something tangible to let me know I'm pregnant. (Remind me I said that in a few weeks, okay?)
We told both of our mothers that I'm pregnant and they are over-the-moon excited. It will be my mom's first grandchild, and I think she's already trying to figure out which sewing project to start first. This will be my mother-in-law's 7th grandchild, but she isn't nearly as close (geographically or relationally) with her others, so she's very excited, too.
I'm still really nervous, but finding myself planning more and more and assuming that things will work out. Hang in there, bean sprout!

2 sizes? Really?
All of a sudden, none of my bras fit. My husband keeps laughing at me because I'm always feeling my breasts. They are so different - bigger, heavier, and sore, with random shooting pains! So, on our way back from our lovely Valentine's Day getaway, we stopped at the outlet mall where I buy all of my bras and I got them to measure me. I went up 2 cup sizes! Wow! And I'm not even 6 weeks pregnant yet.
Otherwise, I'm doing well. I've stopped peeing in sticks obsessively, but I did pee on one right before we left for our trip - it was more for fun than anything. It was cool to see the test line pop up before the control line. I still have a couple left. I'll probably take them, but I don't feel the need to check constantly anymore to make sure I'm still pregnant. I guess that's progress.
My husband and I spent a lovely weekend in Charleston. It was so nice to get away and just be together. He is very good to me - a dozen roses, a carriage ride, a sweet card...he's definitely a keeper.

The Insanity Begins
So, I'm a nervous wreck. I'm trying really hard not to be, but I am. I'm terrified of every twinge. I had a teeny tiny bit of spotting yesterday. I probably wouldn't have even noticed it if I wasn't in the habit of carefully analyzing all toilet paper with a magnifying glass. Okay, I don't really use a magnifying glass, but you get the idea.
So, I hurried home and took another pregnancy test to make me feel better and another one this morning. The lines are still getting darker, which is comforting to me. Of course, when I first went to buy some new ones, I got the cheap, blue dye tests, trying to save money. Bad idea...the first one I took, I could barely see the second line. I had to get some more First Response tests. If I can just get through another couple of weeks, I think I'll be able to calm down, just a little bit.
Okay, I know I need to chill out, and I do not spend my entire days obsessing about it, but I do have moments of fear and dread. Please, God, take good care of my baby.

I can't believe it!
Today is 13 days dpo and DH has his SA scheduled, so I decided to take a pregnancy test. I took one on Sunday and it came up negative. So, I peed in the cup and dipped in the First Response test. It was about 5:20 in the morning, which is about 20 minutes before my normal wake up time, but I had to go!
I rubbed my eyes - surely, it can't be! I must just be seeing things! No, that's a line. A real line! Not some half, smudgy, not-sure-if-it's really-a-line line. No question. So, I grab the digital and dunk it in the cup. I never could get a digital to show up positive last time, so I was nervous. Then it popped up, "pregnant." Wohoo! I couldn't believe it.
So, I turned on the light and jumped in the bed to wake up my husband. He rolled over and grunted. Then he said he didn't have to get up. Then, I poked him and said, "LOOK!" He did. He looked again. He said, "Holy &$%@*" It took him a few seconds, but he finally looked at me and smiled big and then gave me a good hug.
We stayed in bed, dumbfounded for awhile taking turns saying "I can't believe it!" Then he asked me if he could cancel his appointment for today. I told him that it was his call. He definitely canceled it! Then we got dressed and came downstairs so that we could look up the due date (October 14) and stare at each other and the pregnancy tests some more. After waiting so long, it is really hard to believe that this is finally happening.
Of course, I'm very nervous and scared. I don't want this one to end like the last one did. It has already started off better, but I'm still worried. We prayed this morning and we'll keep on praying - well, for a very long time. I was in a much better mood at school this morning, even though I still don't feel well!

What a week...
So, I arrived at school on Tuesday to discover that one of my students had been in a terrible accident. He was riding his bike and got hit by a truck. He had emergency brain surgery and they had to remove part of his brain, due to swelling. That morning, the doctors were saying that he would not survive. By Wednesday morning, there had been some improvement. He was somewhat responsive (moving hands and feet slightly on command). The nurses started calling him "the 1%-er." Doctors are still guarded about his prognosis. Obviously, this will be a long road, no matter what.
I just can't help thinking about his family and the neighbor who hit him. By all accounts it was a complete accident, my student's fault. The car was not speeding or driving recklessly in any way. I just can't imagine...
About mid-day on Tuesday, my voice decided to leave. I couldn't talk. I wasn't even yelling at my students! It actually happened during my planning period. I felt fine, but when I woke up Wednesday, I still had no voice and I felt terrible, so I called into work to get a substitute. I'm still out today, and I actually feel even worse. I still have to go to our Open House tonight, though. I'm not looking forward to it. The math teacher is always in trouble with the parents.
My temperature worries were much ado about nothing. True, my last couple charts had higher temps, but when I looked back further, I saw plenty that weren't. Just something obsess about. Now, we just wait a few more days and try not to get our hopes up. And yes, I will admit that I googled to see if laryngitis could be a pregnancy symptom...lame. (In case you were wondering, it's not.)
