My Beautiful Daughter

Our beautiful, perfect little girl was born on Tuesday, October 13th at 9:35am. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 22.5 inches long. Here are a few pictures:

Why Mtendere?

I was a Peace Corps Volunteer for 2 years in Malawi, a small country in southeastern Africa. While there, I learned a lot of Chichewa, the local language in my village. Now, I use lots of Chichewa words in cyberspace.

I have a bit of a restless spirit and I'm a natural worrier. But, when I was in Africa, I was often overcome by a sense of wonder and peace that I had never experienced before. Using the Chichewa word connects me with those moments and with the people there who knew struggles and heartaches that most of us will never be able to understand and yet lived with such grace and generosity.

Mtendere means Peace
